June 2016 newsletter

Dear Jammers,

Have you been enjoying the sun? We have, and it has made May jamming all the more interesting. On Friday 13 May, Laura facilitated a very special jam at KPC. We had all the windows open, the sun was shining and 14 people turned up to work on intention in movement and play. Pure bliss! On Sunday 29 May, Kai Wen Chuang ran a class and jam focusing on the link between Tai Chi Dao Yin and contact improvisation. This was so productive and interesting! Thank you to those who came. It was great to dance with you.

If you came, I hope you enjoyed your jamming practice because the next jam is not until Sunday 19th June. It will be a spectacular one, though, as we will be part of the Global Underscore. Penny will be introducing the Underscore at 2.30pm. If you have never danced it, make sure you attend the introduction. We are also asking our participants to commit to the full score practice, from 3 to 7pm. As the Glasgow subway will stop working before we finish, we ask you to make sure you arrange transport. The full session is only £10 and we promise it will be worth it. You will be dancing with many practitioners around the globe! Read more about it here: http://globalunderscore.blogspot.co.uk/. We have included details of the Glasgow event below.

As we mentioned in the last newsletter, we had to cancel our regular jams in June to minimize our losses, as attendance in the past few months has been so low. Thank you very, very much to those of you who have made donations. @TGJ is completely volunteer run and we do appreciate your support. We are still making an appeal for help: donations, commitment to attending the jam, bringing a friend, volunteering, anything in kind … If you can help us, please do. Our work for the community is very important to us but also we cannot work without your help. Please get involved!

It is not yet taps aff weather in Glasgow but it is getting milder, the perfect season to wear one of our gorgeous @TGJ t-shirts. We still have some left, in green and aubergine, but only limited sizes of both. Get your orders processed by emailing
theglasgowjam@gmail.com. Only £15!

The next jams are listed below (see venues, as we are taking the jam around Glasgow) and, if you need to plan more ahead, we have our full June–December 2016 programme on our website: http://theglasgowjam.blogspot.co.uk/p/jam-calendar.html). See you on the jam floor!

Much love,

Penny and Laura x
